Welcome to www.eacs.ca - the online home of Ontario's Environmental Advisory Committees.
Environmental Advisory Committees (or EACs as they are known) are made up of citizen volunteers. EACs provide independent advice and expertise to municipal councils and staff on environmental issues.
The mandate of EACs varies from municipality to municipality. Some EACs focus on the environmental aspects of land-use planning. Others deal with with a broader range of environmental issues. These can include waste management, tree protection, water quality, wetlands, environmental education, trails and bikeways, as well as environmental policies and plans.
The first EAC was established in Waterloo County. Today there are more than 30 EACs across the province, and that number grows every year.
